I’d heard about prayer journaling, have you? I was toying with the idea of buying one of those beautiful, ready-made journals when I realized I should try a little experiment. Simple things have always seemed to work best for me, so I got an inexpensive spiral notebook and I started writing down my prayers every morning. You may be asking yourself why a prayer journal, well sometimes when I sit down and write my thoughts and my prayers, big and small and months later I go back and reread them. Even weeks later I find that God has either answered shown me why he hasn’t answered or help me to understand exactly what it is that I was needing in that moment. Many times throughout the day or especially in the morning when I get up, I find myself not necessarily praying, but corresponding with God talking to him about my day, my worries, my thoughts, my health, the health and well being of a loved one. All the things that all of us ponder in our minds were really just talking to God. In ways that is some of our prayer language, we don’t have to always be on our knees with our eyes close in our head bowed when talking to God yes, I do get on my knees. I do bow my head at times but I also just talked to God like he’s right here in the room with me because he is his spirit is everywhere I go . So if you haven’t tried just a spiral notebook for a prayer journal, you can buy one at your dollar store for a dollar give it a try for one month and go back each week and read what you have written for the day and see how God is talking to you through your prayer journal, and your prayer language with God you might be surprised
I’ve journaled for many years, usually when I’m dealing with something that is difficult or going through a stressful time. I have kept gratitude journals when we’ve been in situations where it’s hard to see that we still have so much to be thankful for. I have never kept just a prayer journal, but I love the idea, and may start doing it. It’s been better than therapy, just God and me, many times.
That’s awesome
I started journaling in the late 80s and continued thru the 90s and early 2000nds. I still do from time to time!
It’s a wonderful thing and good to go back and see the further revelation God gave/gives now!
I love this, Debbie. I’ve thought about doing this so often but never actually done it. I have even been giv nice journals just for prayer. After reading your story, I’m going to start one too. Im like you and just seem to talk to God as if He is visiting with me and we’re chatting. I do sing a lot and love to praise Him for all that He has done for me. And that a WHOLE LOT !!!!
thanks for you thoughts and ideas on this subject 🙌🙏🏻🙌
It sounds like a good idea, especially to look back and realize God is answering our prayers.
I have heard of this prayer journaling, but never started. I just came inside from walking around outside on this beautiful day! I always talk to God when I have these walks. Being outside seems to help me be more calm and talking to God more closely. Maybe I will try journaling, especially on days when I can’t get outside. Thanks, Debbie.🙋🏼
I love the idea of a prayer journal. I keep a dream journal when my parents come to me in my dreams.
I have been a journaler for years. I live it. It’s extremely therapeutic.
Excellent idea! Thank you.❤️
