Yesterday I talked a little about forgiveness and what that feels like to have true forgiveness in your heart. Today- it is about Love – I am just sharing and I hope someone enjoys my thoughts here.
Love is the strongest emotion we experience. It impacts every aspect of our lives – from how we feel about God to how we interact with those around us. In our culture love can be sentimental and fleeting, but what does the Bible say about love? What does it mean to love God, and how do we show God’s love to others?
Well, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, says- Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. Just a reminder today that God is Love, we are to show love and be love, to all.
In order to show Love at all times I think we need to Love ourselves as God loves us. Not a worldly but the Love of Christ in us. He loves us no matter what and we have to accept ourselves imperfections and all, just as He does. When we get to know Christ and have that personal relationship, He shows us His love for us in many ways, we have to learn to love ourselves through Him. Then loving others comes easy. True Story!
Wishing you all a Blessed Tuesday
I loved your sweet thoughts on forgiveness and now this ones on love. I just have to share how loved I felt Monday afternoon. On November 1st I fell out my front door when I stepped wrong and twisted my ankle. I fell face first on to our aggregate sidewalk and all I could think of was my knee which I had replaced in 2021. Knee was fine but my face wasn’t. I went o the ER where they did CT scan to check for brain bleed, concussion and fractures. They gave me a shot of morphine, cleaned my wounds, glued and bandage my face the best they could. Monday my daughter, her husband and 3 teenage children came over and made numerous trips upstairs to bring down my Christmas trees, wreaths and and many boxes and bags of decorations. I am 74 years old and just didn’t bounce back from my accident like I did when I was younger and my daughter knows I like to have decorations up early. Now I can decorate when I fell like it. I felt so loved and cared for to have them come and do that for us. It brings tears to my eyes when I think of it. Now I have to pay it forward!
Oh, Lola my sweet FB sister. First of let me say I am praying for your healing and for a speedy one yet a more Christmas Gift from God to you. How awesome that your daughter and her family did that for you. You have been blessed yet again with a daughter of love and compassion for her Mother, as well as her husband and your grandchildren. You keep a positive attitude, let’s get you healed up and ready for the Christmas season to arrive. God bless you, dear.
Just as forgiveness is hard so is loving others who have repeatedly and intentionally hurt you. But, again, God tells us we need to do that in order to be in relationship with Him. I have battled with both. Thank you for the reminder of how important these 2 things are to God and to ourselves for our own sakes. ❤️
Carolyn, to love our enemies is the ultimate sacrifice we make for God, I know it all to well my friend. It is indeed so hard in this flesh of mine. It wants to remember what they said or did, and see them as awful, mean, uncaring. But, they are also children of God whether they acknowledge that or not. He wants us to be fair minded. If nothing else at this moment pray they find the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior. I do truly understand the struggle, many of the things I write here are things Ive faced and ways I am or have move passed them. Giving God all the glory in it because I can not do it myself, nope not possible. I’d stay in a state of anger towards them in my flesh! When we have been hurt so deep or over and over again the pain can just stick to us bond even, it takes our Lord and Savior or intervene on our behalf and speak through us to these people that’s for sure. Much love to you, and remember who you are in Christ, and not as much of what they have done if you can, ok
Well said, Debbie! We all need to be reminded to love ourselves as Christ loves us!❤️
I’m a little late responding as I’m not on fb much anymore. Love, Susan
Amen, sister, Amen! If God is for us who can be against us? He loves us so much, we have to see in us what He does and love us from that.
Amen. Thank you for sharing what we all need to remember. Have a blessed day.🙋
Mary, you are most welcome.
One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible! I have to remind myself often, that I must love myself! We can be critical and hard on ourselves, if we gain weight, not feeling pretty, let our emotions run ahead of us, or if we’re just having a blah, off day! But then there’s that scripture, that we are created in HIS IMAGE! Wow, that’s incredible! So, on those bad, off days…..be reminded to love yourself, so you can love others. Because God loved us enough to create us to be like Him, and I’m sure it breaks His heart when we put ourselves down. He only sees the heart, not our bad hair, overweight selves! Thank you for sharing this blog! God bless, and Have a beautiful day! Because YOU are created in HIS likeness! And He loves us so much!!!
Krista, yes, while it can be hard to love yourself and see yourself as Christ see you, pure, and a child of the most High. Through Him you can do all things. Well said, thank you for your comment. It is funny that even at almost 68 I can sometimes look at myself and think ugh, you’re old, you’re this you’re that! The devil loves to be as mean as he can to us to shake us. But, God says we are worthy, of His love and of Him, what could be more wonderful.
Have a wonderful afternoon.
Thank you Debbie! I see so many people be mean to others and it truly hurts watching this! If only they ‘knew’💞
I am starting to see what I want to call elder abuse more and more as I too get older. I know abuse is all ages. But, it seems that once you are past a certain age you are not longer as relevant as some. While shopping at a higher end department store here in my town, I see it often and have been treated as if I was not even waiting to check out and overlook totally. These people need prayer many do not know how to treat others everything is about them. So sad..
Love this
Thank you, Gretchen, it’s just simple truth to follow daily as we all grow closer to Christ.
Thank you Debbie, , we have been focusing on forgiveness at Church, for a few weeks…..but the greatest is love, love one another as God hath loved us..I find your print is quite small,, as I’m waiting for cataract removal and have macular degeneration. Keep up the good work for God…..a true woman of God.
I pray your surgery goes well, and your vision is restored to the maximum, in Jesus name, Amen.Been there done that!
So so true ❤️thank you for sharing!
You are most welcome
