While we are just in January fresh flowers have become a household treat for some. Florist can be expensive, so I turn to my local grocery store and once the tulips come in, oh it is on for me. I buy them to bring in some color and I love the way they look and make me feel. Like warmer weather is on the horizon.
I have over the years tried many ways to keep my fresh flowers, fresh and pretty longer. One way I do that is I always cut the stems at an angle with pruning shears by 1/2 to 1 inch. Then I add 1/4 cup of clear soda your choice I use Sprite or a 7UP, the sugar in it keeps the flowers fresher longer, and makes them smell sweeter, seriously. My local grocery has a very nice floral department and when the Tulips show up, I’m there. So, the next time you decide to brighten up your space with beautiful fresh flowers try this trick and let me know. Remember to keep your flowers away from drafts and direct light. Many think they need direct they do not! Change the water every 2 days adding fresh water and more white soda. Tulips just hit my local Grocery Store today, yes!
