The House Shoe

Ok, picture it, 64-year-old lady, hair going every which away but the right way. Pajamas on robe and bootie house shoes. It had been three days since the mail had been checked. So, I thought ok, you can do this just get up and walk out there in the cold and go it. I was feeling a bit better but not even what I’d call good, yet! I

Off I go and when I got to the mailbox like I had just come out of a cave I tell you. The sunlight killed my eyes. I remembered that the mail lady had been going around something in the street right by my brick mailbox, yep there it was. The live greenery and bow we always cut each year for Christmas and drape across our mailbox for the Holidays. The winds had bee so bad they blew it off. So, with three days worth of mail one total handful, I grabbed the huge greenery wired together by Mr. Shabby and headed to the trash.

Well, one large piece fell off not far from the mailbox, I could not bend over and pick it up, because the cracked ribs said no. I tried anyway but, my hands were too full and my balance was not so good that day, trying to lean to the last away from the ribs that hurt ha! So, I decided to kick it down the driveway a long one at that. Well, each time I kicked it my house shoe flew off, lol I would hop because it was old and I didn’t want my bare feet to touch the cold concrete and God forbid get sicker if that is even a word! I know, think about it. I looked like a crazy lady hair straight up a hot mess, with two hands full as I continued to kick this pine LIMB it seemed like down my driveway.

Now tell me, I know you have to be laughing if you can even imagine it. What normal person still sick looking like death would even care? They would leave that silly pine limb in the driveway until they felt better, right? No, not me, I had to kick it all the way down my driveway, hop put my house shoe back on and kick it again. Ahhhh, but the satisfaction of getting it done was AWESOME, and you think you still want to follow me??? LoL sometimes when I get something on my mind or get to doing something come pardon me “hell or high water” I’m a doing it! I did it, it’s done and I was so happy. Until the next day when my neighbor asked me what in God’s name I was going the day before? He said he and his wife watched me all the way down and laughed so hard. He told her she can’t leave it there she is stubborn that way.

I said I’m so glad I’ve been here all these years and you know me well. If I was at the new place already they might call the police on me. Oh, the things I do I laugh at my own self all the time. I am a funny lady really. Do you do things like that too?

  1. Just reread this post again…just for another chuckle! You have such a great sense of humor ~
Glad you are on the mend, my friend, PLEASE take care and don’t do TOO much, which is so easy to do when we FINALLY get to feeling better!

AND, on another subject…WHAT is your hurry to find a new place ASAP? Haven’t signed any contracts…or have you? (I know that you said you had a buyer, but then did not sell) If not, why don’t you just withdraw your home, until spring….raise your price to the HIGH end, and then raise it another $25,000., and try again? By then the flowers will be blooming, more people will be looking for a home with school almost out, it will give you more time to look, and on & on….. It’s a sellers market here, and people are offering more than the asking price, in many instances. I have even heard of people who have tried several times to buy different homes, and been were outbid. So, if you find something NOW, go for it, and then sell!
Good luck….you WILL find a perfect place for you, or a place that will be perfect after you put your finishing touches on it! Blessings & Love, c

    1. Carol, I saw a financial advisor for the 1st time in my life via a friend’s brother in law. He advised me to stay put! I carried what I make each month, and what is going out and he said if I did not want to dip into the equity I get from this home to stay put for another few years. Much more but, that was his advice with my income so low and my house payment lower than rent, even though it is 3 times the space I need I am working on closing some of it off to save on power. Happy New Year.
      Love,
      Debbie

  2. I;m sorry that you didn’t have someone to help you and yet thankful and glad that you were able to get outside and the fact that you’re feeling much better. Please continue to take care of yourself and be careful.

  4. Oh, Debbie, I can see this. Sad and funny at the same time. I have done countless things that I regretted later. Pulled muscles in my back several times! But, we do these things anyway! Bless your heart and hope you feel better.

  5. You’re a hoot…hope you didn’t feel worse (health wise) after that…I have done a few things & didn’t ask for help…I lived to regret it…I would say to myself…”don’t do that again.”… or if I went to the mail looking like a sore-tail cat….someone would pass by…I guess neighbors have learned how I look when I am at home. It is Saturday and the sun is shining but it is cold! Hope you are feeling some better…..& that it isn’t the flu…we have a lot of flu here…
