  • 2 packages of pre-made 9-inch pie crusts, there should be two in a pack
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Strawberry jam, cherry pie filling your choice here, so get creative

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature indicated on the pie crust package. Mine was 450 degrees Fahrenheit but it varies so check the pie crust package!
  • Roll out the pie crust onto a flat surface and using a heart-shaped cookie cutter cut out the crust. After you’re done with one sheet, use up the other sheet, then combine the two cut-out the sheets together and re-roll it out to create more.
  • Place half the hearts onto a lined baking sheet.
  • With a 2 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon, add jam, or pie filling of your choice into the center of the hearts then place the other half of the heart crust on top. Using the ends of a fork, press the edges together. Using a sharp knife, make a tiny cut in the middle of the hearts to let steam escape.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush the tops of the hearts with egg and add sprinkles, gently pressing them down onto the hearts.
  • Bake for 9-12 minutes on the upper rack in the oven, or however long your package says to bake the pie crusts. You’ll want a golden brown top.
  • Remove and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.

ENJOY-

  1. They look delicious! The best I do at baking is Betty Crocker, lol. One day I’m gonna get out of my comfort zone.

  2. I wasn’t blessed to know either of my grandmothers and only one grandfather. These look delicious. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

      1. Debbie, I was blessed to have 3 grandparents as a grandfather passed before I was born. I remember all the different foods my moms mother and she would make. Everything, no matter what the made was always so good. Love your different recipes, devotionals, pictures, the pillows, everything! ❤️

  3. Ours are crescent shaped. We have not made them for a long time. I remember my grandmother frying them then we would be off to church with tables full of food (Primitive Baptist) . Most times the little taste we received that morning was all we got by the time we finished the plates that our mother fixed for us they were gone. My mother always baked hers they were not the same.

  4. I haven’t made them in a long time, but I use to. I learned from my Momma and Granny Hill. They made the best! Brings back wonderful memories.

  5. I still make them with my grands! We haven’t made them for quite awhile. Thanks, Debbie for a hood reminder. I think we will do that for our next cooking time

  6. Yes we love the peach ones. We usually buy them at a flea market we visit near by and occasionally I will make some. 😍

  7. They look delicious! Unfortunately neither my grandmother nor mother made these. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of them.
