Winter Storms

Good evening, all. I hope this post finds each one of you with power. So many of our followers are without power still tonight as I write this. We got a little snow even here in Alabama. That is something for us. We usually get ice storms that make the roads impossible for driving.

It’s funny how many up North think we can drive in the snow. We can, but it is usually slush, we bring in the deep South is humid most of the time, therefore our snow is not dry power but shush that turns to ice. That is what makes bridges, and many roads and highways almost impossible to travel in.

I am thankful that we did not get any of that in our area, but extreme North Alabama did. Winter is not over yet, I think that Spring might be late in her arrival this year. Not a surprise, we have been locked in for so long, and like so many of you are just ready for life as we knew it. It will be 54 here Sunday, so, that will be a heatwave to the 20s for daytime highs this week. We are warming up a little bit more each day. I have shared before that I am not a Winter person. As I get older I loathe Winter more and more for that reason.

My bones hurt when it is really damp and cold and I have a time getting warm. My kids and Mr. laugh at me. How many of you know what I mean about being chilled to the bone? That’s how I feel a lot in the Winter. Just stopping by to check in on all of you, again I pray that if you were without power, you now have it back and are staying warm. See you on the page.

Love,

Debbie

  1. Oh so HAPPY to see your posts and blog, and Facebook today! We live in Oregon, and survved the big ice storm that we had!!! 🤗
We are still w/o power, since a week ago last Friday evening! Guess that makes 9 days tonight, this Sunday evening!
We are blessed to have a nice fireplace in our daylight basement, and a stash of dry wood, and plenty of candles, so have been camping down here where it is warm. We have been able to get water, about 20 gallons at a time, from our neighbor. We have plenty of food, and ice chests!
The power company estimates another 3-7 days until we may have power.
“Camping” like this, is a LOT of work, and is not as much fun when you’re old… but we do not have to look far to see SO many so much worse off, with even NO heat! God is Good!
It is a Blessing to know that HE watches over us and is still in Control ~
Blessings to you, and your family, Debbie.
    ♥️,

  2. We were lucky. Our neighborhood did not lose power and we had no broken pipes. It was really rough for some of the people here.
I am like you. I do not like winter anymore. My body aches all over when the weather is cold and wet.
Take care and thanks for writing your blog.

  3. Well written. I’m glad, thankful that most of everyone has gotten their power back on too. It’s sunny here today once again.

  4. So glad you are doing well, Debbie. It’s been quite cold here in Pittsburgh. So much snow and so cold out. Not looking forward to the spring thaw because I have to go out and clean up after the dog. Ugh!

I feel the same way bout the cold. It’s 73 in my house and I’m still freezing. Can’t seem to get warm. The summer will come and I won’t be able to cool off. Lol. The fun of aging…. Have a blessed day!

  5. Happy to hear you and your family are doing well. It’s been really rough here in Dallas but thankfully I’ve had power. Our condo complex has had several broken pipes so the water goes off periodically. I haven’t been outside since Friday so I have no idea what’s going on in the big wide world.I’ll be doing a happy dance in the parking lot that’s for sure. Please take care of everyone

    1. I have a few friends from all over TX and yes, you guys have had a time.. Oh, no broken pipes is never good and with the cold, well frigid temps that can not be good. You will be happy to get out and about for sure.

  6. Debbie, I really enjoyed reading the blog today Friday the 18th. Stay safe and warm. I hope that everyone without power because of all this snow will have theirs back on. Stay safe and warm . It’s been rainy until today, looks like the sun is coming out here in SC. Just hope that you are feeling better today. Take care, dear friend. Love, Marilyn ❤

  7. I am up in Pennsylvania. We have snow, ice, snow melt slush frequently all winter. The snow is not usually light and fluffy. It is heavy to shovel like wet sand. So I am chuckling at people thinking it is pretty like a post card or picture. Life with slippery snow covered or snow packed roads is just expected. Ice is Miserable

  8. You are so right when it starts to melt from being driven on and turns to slush it is imposeible.
I know the towns have a good reason but why not plow it again to get rid if it.
Oh well this to shall pass.
    Love you

  9. I certainly understand….I stay cold most of the time…& if it’s cloudy makes it worse even on a warmer day. Yes these cold days make me ache too. Looking forward to some warmer weather….not the hot humid stuff. Thankfully we did not lose our power….tonight is to be in the teens & tomorrow night too. Then it is to be a bit warmer….Spring is looking better & better….just hope we do not start having tornado weather….last year we had several. Kept me in a tizzy. Enjoy the week-end coming up. Thanks for being a friend,…. JW

  10. Hey Debbie,
I’m so happy to be reading the blog. I glad that you and the Mr have power and not too bad of a mess outside. We’ve just had rain and no snow or ice so far. I am not a winter person and never have been. I ache to bones and my body hurts.

I’m like you about the dear friends up North that think we can’t drive in snow and ice. The South is very different from the North because of a huge difference in temperatures. I don’t drive in the snow and dare not drive in ice. We’re slushy down here which in turn freezes and then we have ice. They tell people to stay at home if they don’t have to get out so I listen to them.

You have some of the most beautiful things on the blogs. I hope things work out for the give aways.

Please take care of yourself and share pictures of little Jackson.

    Love,
    Elaine ❤️🙏🏻❤️
